I believe that every child deserves the right to learn in a safe, fun, loving environment. Play creates curiosity, individuality, questions, experimentation, role modelling, cause and effect, trial and error resilience, self-awareness and limitation. Each child should have the opportunity to feel part of a bigger family and community and learn from everyone around them. My favourite quote “ It takes a village to raise a child”

I Catherine Dollery have been working in the childhood industry for many years, gaining my diploma in Children’s Services in 2005, I believe that each child is an individual and as an educator I will value and develop each child's strengths, interests, skills, abilities and knowledge to extend their learning.

Educational theorist Magda Gerber once said “Childhood is not a race to see how quickly a child can read, write and count. Childhood is a small window of time to learn and develop at a pace that is right for each individual child”. In my eyes children are all individuals and should be cared for and guided in a way that best suits their individual needs. It is my passion to encourage, educate and promote positive learning experiences for children as they discover, explore,imagine and create through play.

Education Theorist Rudolf Steiner said “Receive the children in reverence, educate them in love, and send them forth in freedom”. This quote is something that deeply resonates with me and influences my teaching philosophy and style considerably. My passion as an educator is to encourage, nurture and facilitate children’s learning journeys to the best of my ability, making it as much of a positive experience as possible.

My personal philosophy is that I believe that all children are unique and that their need should be cared for individually. I also believe that children should be able to freely explore and make their own type of play.
